Technology Region Jena

Knowing and Growing. Made in Jena.

Jena's Strengths:
Research, Education, Industry.

It was in Jena that the spirit of scientists, inventors and founders like Carl Zeiß, Ernst Abbe and Otto Schott once sparked the revolutionary development of the German optics industry. Due to the consequent continuation of this successful interaction between science and economy, Jena emerged as a future-oriented high tech location and developed to Thuringia’s most important research and founder center.

Science Campus Beutenberg – where life science meets physics

Today, Jena provides technology-oriented business founders a unique setting for the realization of their innovative ideas.

Thuringia’s most important research and founder centre was established in the years following the German reunification at the Beutenberg in the south-western part of Jena. With its six non-university research institutions, several institutes of the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität, an application centre for bioinstruments and the Technology and Innovation Park as technology-oriented founder centre, the Science Campus Beutenberg is more and more becoming an internationally renowned centre of competence at the interface of cellular biology, genetics, molecular medicine as well as the the physics of nano structure, micro systems, optics and mechanics.
